Employee Spotlight – Tim Kelly, Vice President of Communication Services on the hard work of the communications team, and goals for 2023.

Kelly: Tim, you have been with Winston for 1.5 years now. What is your favorite thing about working here?
Tim: My favorite thing about working at Winston Benefits is the people. The Winston machine is a complex operation fueled by a lot of intelligent, hard working people. The relationships I have formed make coming to work a pleasure. I want to come through for my teammates daily to deliver positive results for our customers and partners. It is truly a team effort at Winston Benefits.
Kelly: What are some steps you take to prepare for open enrollment communications?
Tim: Before the open enrollment season (Q4), I try to be proactive and develop communications strategies for our 50+ clients. Most communications campaigns include benefit guidebooks, postcards, posters, flyers, emails, texts, videos, and other digital assets. The information is dynamic, with dates and details changing throughout the creative/production process. The more prepared we are at the beginning of each campaign, the more prepared we are for change. The communications team is agile, and we can pivot when needed.
Kelly: With Q4 coming to an end, how successful do you think open enrollment communications were this year?
Tim: The communications team is comprised of talented, hardworking individuals working in tandem with each other. I’m proud to report that we met every deadline that we set, and we delivered accurate, clear communications that effectively enabled our customers to make better-informed decisions when electing their benefits. In addition, we are lucky to have strong vendor relationships that help us meet any challenge throughout Q4. Communications are a collaborative effort.
Kelly: Do you plan to introduce any new types of communication next year?
Tim: Yes, in 2023, we will introduce “The Winston Benefits HR Video Library.” This suite of videos will help educate our customers on the different terminology and benefit products available to them. Our goal is to help educate our customers to make better decisions for themselves and their families in both the short and long term. This is an opt-in resource that we hope all our customers, new and old, take advantage of. The communications team will be developing a campaign to promote this new Winston video resource. 2023 is going to be a good year at Winston Benefits.
